Auto Action FAQs

Here are a few important points about Auto Actions:

Rate Calculations: Auto actions are always calculated using the base rate up to 365 days into the future and not the previous price. If you have more than one Auto Action of the same type enabled, only the "top" auto action that is true will apply

  • What if I have multiple Greater than Auto Actions? Only the Auto Action with the highest occupancy percentage will apply
  • What if I have multiple Less than Auto Actions? Only the Auto Action with the lowest occupancy percentage will apply
  • What if I don't have a base rate? Please set up base rate in Inventory -> Rates  and associate them with seasons or give us a call so we may assist!

Multiple Auto Action Example: Let's say that you have a base rate and two auto actions of the same type

Yesterday, occupancy hit 61%, triggering Auto Action #1. The base rate price of $100 increases 10% to $110.

Today, occupancy hit 81%, triggering Auto Action #2. The base rate price of $100 increases 20% to $120.

We only apply the "top" auto action of the same type, and the rate changes are only applied to the base rate (not the previous rate). At 81%, both Auto Action #1 and #2 are true, but only Auto Action #2 is applied because it's "on top" at 80% occupancy.

One Year Limit: Auto Actions are applied a maximum of 365 days into the future

Manual Overrides Are Not Affected by Auto Actions: Auto Actions do not change rates that you have manually overridden, so that your changes are preserved

  • When you manually click into a rate on the Rates Grid and change it, or if you change rates using the Bulk Update tool, the rate turns blue to indicate a manual override
  • Rates with a blue ribbon indicate rate changes due to an Auto Action. Again, Auto Actions will not change rates that you have manually overridden

When Auto Actions Are Applied: Auto Actions are applied when you click the " Save" button on the top right corner. After saving, they are also updated every 20 minutes, in case your occupancy changes

  • If an Auto Action is no longer true, it will be removed automatically
    • For example, if you have a Greater than 80% Auto Action and your hotel occupancy drops to 75%, the Greater than Auto Action will be removed automatically
  • If an Auto Action becomes true, it will be applied automatically
    • For example, if you have a Less than 20% Auto Action and your hotel occupancy drops to 10%, the Less than 20% Auto Action will be applied automatically
