Yield Management - Rare Auto Action Cases

Created by Alex Savchuk, Modified on Fri, Mar 15 at 7:10 PM by Alex Savchuk

There are a few situations that should be rare, but that might be good to know about...

  •  What if someone creates two overlapping Auto Actions, such as " Greater than 20%" and "Less than 80%"?
    • If the Greater than and Less than Auto Action overlap, the greater than auto action will be applied ---- in the future we will remove ability to create overlapping auto actions

  • What if someone creates two identical Auto Actions?
    • If two Auto Actions are identical, one one will be applied. The modified rate will not double due to two identical Auto Actions

  • What if two Auto Actions are almost identical, such as two Greater than 80% alerts with different color values ( ex: raise rates $10 and raise rates $55)?
    • As a rule, if two Auto Actions "tie" , then we apply the Auto Action that was most recently updated. However, rules that only differ in the amount rates are raised or lowered, then Greater than rules and Less than rules operate a little differently:
      • Greater than rules take the highest number applied; the system will choose to raise rates by $55 rather than $10
      • Less than rules take the lowest amount lowered; the system will choose to lower rates by $10 rather than $55

  • What if a user clicks " Save" and updating the Auto Action on the Rates Grid takes a really long time?
    • Because we are updating so many records, our largest properties may experience some lag when trying to implement far-reaching Auto Actions
      • That said, we implemented many performance improvements that should make Demand Management faster overall, and we're continuing to refactor the code and seek out speed increases on an ongoing basis
