Payment Links support ACH bank transfers as a payment method, in addition to cards. There are a few important differences to be aware of when using Payment Links to collect ACH payments.
This article covers ACH-specific behaviour for Payment Links. For general guidance on creating and sharing Payment Links, see Payment Links.
Creating a Payment Link is only available for the innRoad Payments Gateway. Contact support@innroad.com to learn more.
The 14-day rule
ACH is only available as a payment option if the guest pays at least 14 days before the link's expiration date. This ensures the payment has enough time to settle.
If the guest opens the link fewer than 14 days before it expires, ACH will not be shown as a payment option and they will only be able to pay by card.
The default expiration date is 14 days from today. With the default setting, ACH will not be available because the guest would need to pay on the same day the link was created for the 14-day requirement to be met. If you want the guest to have the option to pay by ACH, set the expiration date to at least 15 days from today when creating the link.
For example, if you create a link with an expiration date of July 10, the guest must pay on or before June 26 for ACH to be available as an option.
What happens after the guest pays by ACH
ACH payments do not settle instantly. After the guest completes payment via the link:
- The payment will show as Pending on the folio for 1 to 4 business days.
- The folio balance is not considered paid until the status updates to Captured.
- The guest's bank account is saved as the payment method on file for the reservation.
Treat a Pending ACH payment as a payment that could still fail. Wait for the status to reach Captured before considering the reservation's balance settled.
For more on the ACH settlement process, see ACH Payments: Overview.
