Processing a payment through innRoad Payments

Created by Alex Savchuk, Modified on Mon, Nov 17 at 9:54 AM by Alex Savchuk

You can use the innRoad Payments Gateway to process charges on stored card payment methods, like credit or debit cards.

If you don't have the guest's card on file, we recommend creating a Payment Link. It is a secure way to process payments and get the card details from your guest with a lower risk of chargebacks.

This guide is only applicable to users on the innRoad Payments gateway. Please contact support@innrod.com if you'd like to learn more.

How to process a Payment or Authorization

Follow the steps below to process a charge or hold funds on a stored card.

  1. Log in to innRoad.
  2. Open the Reservation where you need to process a payment.
  3. You can process payments in two different ways:
    1. Option A - On the Reservation Details page
      1. Click Take Payment:
  4. Option B - In a specific Folio
    1. Click Folio.
    2. Click Pay.
    3. Select Take Payment:
    4. Double-check the Amount and the Card details.

The Amount will default to the current Reservation balance, if you Take Payment from the Reservation Details screen, or to the Folio balance.

You can adjust the amount if you are processing a partial payment.
    5. If you want to apply a hold on the guest's card, click Type and change to Authorization Only:
    6. Click Pay if processing a capture, or Authorize if processing a hold.

Understanding the Payment outcome

Approved payments

If the payment is approved, you'll see a Payment Successful pop-up with details about the processed amount:

Declined payments

In some cases, your capture or authorization won't be processed successfully. Here's how to handle those cases:

  • You'll remain on the Take Payment Pop-up.
  • The platform will show the payment outcome at the bottom:

If payments decline, we recommend using Payment Links as a secure way to process the transaction, store the card dteails, and give your guest control over their payment.
