Windcave EMV Setup Guide

Introduction

innRoad is pleased to bring to you EMV card payments, powered by Windcave. The new solution allows you to process card payments in 2 ways:

  • Manually entered card details: A payment can still be processed by keying in the card details (without a device) or using a previously stored credit card. This type of transaction is typically used when a guest provides their Credit Card details over the phone and should be reserved for instances when the guest is not present.

  • Card Present/EMV: A payment taken by inserting the guest’s card in the EMV, pin pad device (aka HIT Terminal). EMV payments are triggered from innRoad by communicating through the cloud to the EMV pin pad device. The card is then inserted, and the payment transaction is securely transmitted to Payment Express, using P2PE encryption. This means that no software needs to be installed on your machine and no cables are needed between your machine and the payment device.

EMV setup is a 2 step process.

    • Device Setup

    • Connect Device

Once the process is completed, EMV payments are available within innRoad.

Step 1: Device Setup

  • Navigate to Setup>Properties>Interfaces>Pin Pads.

  • Click on “Add a Device” and complete the following information:

o DeviceName: This is the device name that will appear in Payment Methods when trying to make a payment, so that the user can easily identify the device (i.e. “EMV Terminal 1”)

o StationID: This is the 10-digit number available at the back of the device. See image below.

  1. Device has In-built printer check box: This check box defines if the device has an in built printer. Note: The Ingenico iPP350 does not have an inbuilt printer.

  • Click Save and then click Publish to connect the pin pad to your innRoad account.

Note: The default profile of the device is set to process payments without a pin or signature verification as most hotels prefer to print a guest statement as acknowledgement for charges. Contact 855.INN.ROAD or support@innroad.com if interested in using pin verification and/or transaction receipts.

Step 2: Connect Device

The LANE3000 (see image below) connects directly to the internet allowing you to use the device without any physical connections between your computer and the EMV pin pad.

  • Connect the ethernet port to a network connection via a modem/router/internet port.

  • Connect the external power supply.

  • Once powered up, the device will beep and go through an automatic boot-up and logon process

  • Once completed & ready, the EMV pin pad will be idle and display “EFTPOS” on the screen.

Things didn’t go as planned?

    • If your EMV terminal isn’t working, the first thing to do is check the network connectivity. If you can’t access the internet using a different device (i.e. your laptop) and the same internet connection, you need to speak with your IT provider.

    • The second thing to do is reboot the device by holding the clear and function keys for 3 seconds, wait until the device displays EFTPOS and then perform a logon by pressing the Menu Button and choosing the LOGON option.

    • If this still doesn’t fix the problem, please contact support at 855.INN.ROAD or support@innroad.com for any assistance on setup.

Ledger Account/Payment Methods:

Before making any payments ensure that the commonly used cards are configured as a payment method in Setup>Ledger Accounts>the Credit Card check box should be checked.

If an unidentified card is used for EMV payments, then the card details will display as “Device Payment” in the folio.
